Effective March 31, 2023, workplace first aid kit requirements in part 11 of Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Code require all Alberta employers to furnish and maintain easily accessible first aid kits that comply with the specifications outlined in "CSA Z1220-17, First aid kits for the workplace." In Low Risk Workplace Environments:

• 2-25 workers per shift need a CSA Type 2 Basic First Aid Kit - Small (2-25 Workers).
• 26-50 workers per shift need a CSA Type 2 Basic First Aid Kit - Medium (26-50 Workers).
• 51-100 workers per shift need a CSA Type 2 Basic First Aid Kit - Large (51-100 Workers).

In High Risk Workplace Environments:

• 2-25 workers per shift need a CSA Type 3 Intermediate First Aid Kit - Small (2-25 Workers).
• 26-50 workers per shift need a CSA Type 3 Intermediate First Aid Kit - Medium (26-50 Workers).
• 51-100 workers per shift need a CSA Type 3 Intermediate First Aid Kit - Large (51-100 Workers).
